FAQ

On this page you will find answers to the questions we receive most frequently; please feel free to contact us if you would like more informations.

“What genetic tests do your adults have?”

Our adults, before they are bred, are genetically tested and orthopedically screened: all have the Laboklin poodle package; certification (FSA/Ce.Le.Ma.Sche) of patellar luxation and, often, FSA certification of hereditary oculopathies and (in toys) also certification for necrosis of the femoral head.
It’s important to us that our puppies are, throughout their lives, as healthy as possible.

“At what age do puppies go to their new home?”

Our puppies go to their new families only after 90 days; if abroad, another 3 weeks must be added.
Since the socialization window closes at 16 weeks, it is essential for us to give the puppies as many experiences as possible and introduce them to different environments and situations, as well as to more types of people and animals; this allows them to become calm and serene adults in their daily lives.

“How often are your females reproduced?”

Our priority is the health of our dogs; that is why we never mate too closely together, nor do we mate beyond a certain age.
We always let at least one heat pass between litters; we never mate before the third heat and over 7 years of age, and our females never have more than 4-5 litters in their lives.
Obviously each female is her own, but these remain fundamental pillars for us.

“Do you have a waiting list?”

We started to use waiting list, so if you want to be added, you can contact us. We decide on our puppies’ future families when they are at least 1/1.5 months old; this is because only at this age we begin to see their morphological characteristics and attitudes, which change depending on the individual puppy. It is crucial for us to find the right combination between the needs of the family and, above all, the needs of the puppy.

“Is it essential to have a garden?”

Absolutely not, poodles lives very well in an apartment and don’t suffer from it at all; instead, it is essential that they can discharge their energy outside the house (this applies with or without a garden), taking them out daily to walk, run and explore.

“Does the size of the dog depend only on the size of the parents?”

It’s not a given that toy parents (even with purely toy genealogy) will give exclusively puppies of the same size. Obviously around 2 to 3 months of age, knowing our dogs, we will be able to tell the probable size they will reach once they are adults, but it must be remembered that with a height of 28cm we will have a toy, while with a height of 28.1cm the dog will already be considered dwarf; for this reason size can never be 100% guaranteed.

“What do your dogs eat?”

Our adults are on a BARF diet, which we personally prepare, as we are very keen to know what they are eating. For puppies it is a different matter, as it is essential that they take in all macro and micronutrients in the right amounts, but not all owners are able to continue with a correct and complete diet; therefore we choose good quality kibble for them.

“What is delivered with the puppy?”

Each puppy is delivered with microchip (of course, it is required by law to be inserted by 60 days of age), registration at the dog registry, vaccination booklet (the vaccination cycle for leptospirosis, distemper, viral hepatitis and parvovirosis is completed; for puppies that have to go abroad, the rabies vaccine is also given), pedigree, copy of the parents’ tests, an health certificate made by the vet 24h before and our puppy kit.

“What does the puppy kit contain?”

Our puppy kit is delivered together with the puppy and contains a folder with all the documents, some toys, a blanket, a bag of kibble equal to that used in the breeding, a leash, samples of shampoo and conditioner suitable for the type of coat, and a practical guide containing the most important tips for the proper growth of the puppy.

“When should the first grooming be done?”

The puppy’s first grooming will be done at the kennel: at 30-40 days, the first shaves (muzzle, tail hairline, genitals, and feet) are performed; around 45-50 days, the first bath and first full grooming (a puppy clip is set) will be done.
These actions will be continued periodically until the puppy is delivered. Once home, it will be necessary to take the puppy to the groomer for the first time after about 3-4 weeks.

“How to take care of the poodles’ fur?”

In order to keep their fur healthy and knot-free, it’s very important to keep it moisturized and therefore it’s essential to bathe them frequently: it is advisable to do this once every 7-15 days.
Because the hair of this breed is continuously growing, it’s also very important that they are groomed maximum every 6 weeks by a professional.

“Where do your puppies grow up?”

Our puppies, as well as our adults, are born and grow up exclusively in the home, surrounded by family love; they become to all intents and purposes part of the family and, from a certain age, are also part of the pack. In this way, they are able to acquire teachings not only from their mother, but also from other dogs, including males and elders, thus learning how to communicate and pose in the correct way.
In addition to experiences within the family, they are also often taken to different places and situations so that they become serene dogs in every environment.
